Mrs. Alvarez

Welcome to Mrs. Alvarez's page!

This year I am teaching Computer Applications II and III and for the 8th graders I have a new class called iDesign.  Computer Applications will be using Edutyping, Code.org, Khan Academy, and Minecraft.  I love to use Minecraft for group work! Don't worry!  I don't make you spend all class in Edutyping!

For iDesign, I am teaching video game design.  We will cover all the basics of game design and then create games, in singles or pairs, in Minecraft.  From adventure maps to treasure hunting to survival, we have it all!

I have used Microsoft and Adobe products for several years and am an avid video gamer.  I received my Bachelor of Science in Management of Information Systems from Bellevue University in 2006 and my Master's of Education in Curriculum and Instruction, with a major in ESL, from Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska.  I am currently working on my Educational Specialist degree in Educational Technology with the University of Central Missouri and my provisional license from the University of Kearney.

I fell in love teaching while living in New Zealand and working for the Royal New Zealand Foundation of the Blind.  After moving back to Omaha, I started working on my Master's degree.  In my spare time, I love to spend time with my family and our Border Collie, Lucky.
