Hello and Welcome to 6th GRADE - Room 107!

--Where we learn, work, and play together believing in teamwork--

Because, "if you want to go fast, go alone but if you want to go far than go together" (African proverb)

My name is Ms. Jawaid, and I am very excited to be working with the ESL students and families this year. I have recently taught 6th grade at Walnut Hill Elementary and graduated from the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) with a Bachelor's of Science in Elementary Education with an emphasis in English as a Second Language. I am continuing my studies at UNO to get a Master's in STEM education.

I was born in Pakistan, and later my family moved to Omaha, Nebraska when I was eight years old. I was an ESL student myself for five years, 4th - 8th grades). I am a proud student and now, a teacher of Omaha Public Schools. I love living here in Omaha, where every day I meet people and teach children coming from various backgrounds and cultures of the world. I love to keep on learning and traveling, which has taken me to various places around the world such as United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, Canada, Oman, South Korea, and Switzerland. I had also lived and taught ESL in grades K-6 in South Korea for a year. I speak Urdu, Hindi, English, Spanish, Korean, and a limited amount of Arabic. In my free time, I explore various hiking and bicycling trails with my husband in Omaha and enjoy cooking for my family. Lastly, I am a big soccer fan, and I also coach it at our school.

If you would like to visit our room or have any questions and concerns,  please feel free to contact me via email or phone as you (parents and guardian), and I will work together to prepare our students for a successful academic year and beyond as they move to the next grade level. Also, keep checking your emails, bloomz, and my website for monthly announcements and resource links for extra practice academic skills.

We are going to have a great year! I look forward to meeting and working with everyone.

Thank you...Ms. Jawaid
