After 30 years of teaching Reading/Language Arts at KSTM, I am taking on a new challenge this year teaching Social Studies and Writing! I cannot wait to work with you and your student in these new subject areas.
Summary - Social Studies: In fifth grade, students use their understanding of social studies concepts and cause and effect relationships to study Pre-Columbian cultures, the development of the of the American colonies, and the creation of the United States through the writing of the U.S. Constitution. By applying what they know from civics, economics, and geography, students learn the ideals, principals, and systems that shaped this country's founding.
